Adaptation to Climate Change
Mitigation is only half the story
How It Works
This collaborative workshop complements mitigation-focused programs like the Climate Fresk by addressing the adaptation side of the climate equation. Participants work together to understand climate risks, assess vulnerabilities, and identify adaptation strategies. Through guided activities and discussion, teams develop a practical understanding of what climate resilience means for their context.
What You'll Learn
- The difference between climate mitigation and climate adaptation
- Key climate risks relevant to your region and industry
- Frameworks for assessing climate vulnerability and resilience
- Practical adaptation strategies at organizational and community levels
- How to integrate climate risk into strategic planning and decision-making
While reducing emissions is essential, the reality is that significant climate change is already locked in. The Adaptation to Climate Change workshop addresses the equally important question: how do we prepare for and respond to the impacts that are already happening?
Why Adaptation?
Most climate education focuses on mitigation — reducing greenhouse gas emissions. But with global temperatures already rising and extreme weather events increasing, adaptation is no longer optional. Organizations, communities, and governments need to understand their vulnerabilities and build resilience now.
The Experience
This workshop takes a practical, risk-focused approach. Participants explore the climate impacts most relevant to their context — whether that’s sea-level rise, extreme heat, water scarcity, or supply chain disruption. Through collaborative activities, teams develop a shared understanding of risks and co-create adaptation strategies they can implement.
For Organizations
Particularly relevant for organizations in Southeast Asia and other climate-vulnerable regions, this workshop helps teams integrate climate risk into their planning processes. It bridges the gap between climate science and practical business resilience, turning abstract risks into concrete action plans.
